Abstract

This large Antiphonal was produced around 1500 in Spain. It retains its original covers, complete with tooled leather, central and corner bosses, and corner pieces.

Support: Parchment; Extent: i+205+i; 498 x 354 mm bound to 530 x 420 mm; Foliation: Modern foliation in pencil, lower right recto; early foliation in ink using Roman numerals, with some numbers skipped, upper right corner; Collation: 1 (11, +11), 2 (6), 3 (6, -2), 4 (6), 5-21 (10), 22 (7, +7); Catchwords: Horizontal catchwords in lower margin at folios: 10v; 28v, 38v, 48v, 58v, 68v, 78v, 88v, 98v, 108v, 118v, 128v; vertical catchwords in lower inner margin at folios: 138v, 148v, 158v, 168v, 178v, 188v, 198v

One singleton missing between folios 10 and 11; one leaf missing between folios 18 and 19

Folio 205 consists of a seventeenth- or eighteenth-century noted chant and five fragments of a glossed fourteenth-century legal text pasted onto cardboard
