Abstract

This manuscript is a thirteenth-century Paris-type Bible with prologues and an incomplete copy of the Interpretationes Hebraicorum nominum (entries for A to H) at the end of the volume.

Support: Parchment; Extent: 124 x 85 mm bound to 132 x 92 mm; Collation: 1 (23, +23), 2 (23, +23), 3 (23, +23), 4 (25, +25), 5-6 (20), 7 (26), 8 (25, +25), 9 (24), 10 (18), 11 (19, +19), 12 (27, +27), 13-15 (24), 16 (21, +21), 17-20 (24), 21 (25, +25), 22 (26), 23 (22), 24 (19, +19), 25 (24); Signatures: Modern signatures in pencil, lower right first recto, perhaps dating to the rebinding of the manuscript

Two columns of forty-six lines; ruled in lead with vertical bounding lines; written area: 102 x 67 mm

Fourteen historiated initials at the beginning of selected books; seventy-six illuminated initials in designs of dragons and foliate patterns in full colors at the beginning of books and some prologues; approximately fifty large red and blue puzzle initials at the beginning of prologues; two-line chapter initials in red or blue with long penwork extensions in the contrasting color; rubrication in red; capitals touched in red; versal initials in Psalms in red or blue; running titles and chapter numbers in alternately red and blue letters
